Jeep has officially unveiled the 2026 Jeep Recon, the industry's first and only fully electric Trail Rated SUV. Announced on November 20, 2025, this all-new model delivers legendary 4x4 capability in a fully electrified package, combining 650 horsepower, 620 lb-ft of instant torque, and an estimated all-electric range of up to 400 kilometres.
Built on a purpose-designed electric architecture, the Recon stays true to Jeep's open-air heritage with removable doors, rear quarter glass, and swing gate glass—no tools required. Production begins early next year at the Toluca Assembly Plant, with initial launches in the United States and Canada.
Electric Powertrain Built for Adventure
The 2026 Jeep Recon is powered by front and rear Stellantis-designed electric drive modules (EDMs), each rated at 250 kilowatts. This standard electric 4x4 propulsion system delivers 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque, with acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 3.6 seconds in Sport mode.
The Moab trim's rear EDM uses a 15:1 final drive ratio for high torque multiplication in challenging conditions, while the front EDM uses an 11:1 ratio in an open differential design. An electronic locking differential ensures torque flows to both rear wheels when engaged, and the front axle includes automatic disconnects at each wheel end to optimize energy use during typical on-road driving.
The 100.5-kilowatt-hour, 400-volt battery pack is protected by high-strength steel underbody shields. Charging options include Level 1 (120 V) in approximately 52 hours, Level 2 (240 V) in approximately 6.8 hours, and DC Fast Charge in approximately 28 minutes (5-80%). The integrated dual charging module can add 160 kilometres in 10 minutes via public DC fast charging.
Trail-Rated Capability Meets Electric Precision
The Jeep Recon is the only fully electric SUV to earn Trail Rated status. The Moab trim features standard 33-inch all-terrain tires (265/70R18 Nexen Roadian ATX) and delivers 23.1 centimetres of ground clearance. Off-road specifications include a 33.8-degree approach angle, 33.1-degree departure angle, and 23.3-degree breakover angle.
Jeep's exclusive Selec-Terrain traction management system features five distinct drive modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and Rock (Moab trim). Rock mode tailors throttle pedal response for two-pedal driving technique over uneven terrain and includes hill hold feature. The system also includes low-speed Selec-Speed Control for challenging inclines and declines, maintaining set speed while the driver concentrates on steering.
The suspension uses a short-long arm (SLA) design up front and integral link in the rear, responsive to driver inputs while maximizing tire contact patch. This setup delivers an ideal blend of on-road ride comfort with Jeep off-road capability. Maximum trailer weight is rated at 1,496 kilograms (3,300 lbs).
Open-Air Freedom Without Compromise
The 2026 Jeep Recon stands as the only fully electric vehicle designed with removable doors, rear quarter glass, and swing gate glass. No tools are required for removal, allowing drivers to transition to open-air driving in minutes. The vehicle comes standard with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof or an available Sky One-Touch Power Top.
A premium Alpine audio system comes standard, with speakers repositioned from traditional door mounts to beneath the seats. This thoughtful design ensures uninterrupted sound quality even with doors removed, allowing drivers and passengers to fully embrace the outdoors without sacrificing audio performance. The Recon is the only EV in its segment to offer premium sound as standard equipment.
The swing gate holds a full-size, rear-mounted spare tire—a segment-exclusive feature. Flush-mounted e-release handles provide effortless access, and the upright front face features illuminated seven-slot grille rings, U-shaped daytime running lights, and a full suite of standard premium LED lighting.
Interior Built for Saskatchewan Adventures

The cabin blends durable, trail-ready materials with smart, customizable storage. An iconic horizontal layout is anchored by a passenger-side grab handle and clean, symmetrical dash. A modular accessory rail atop the instrument panel allows mounting of cameras, navigation devices, or other accessories.
A two-tiered pass-through centre console offers generous room for gear, with an available wireless charger on the upper level and cord pass-through to a lower compartment. Modular door panels with removable elastic straps and interchangeable cargo solutions provide flexible organization. Cargo capacity reaches 1,866 litres with the second row folded, plus an 84.9-litre front trunk sized for a carry-on suitcase.
The Moab trim introduces a Joshua Tree tan interior with Capri synthetic material on seats, console, doors, and instrument panel, paired with Iron Grey Metallic trim and Quicksand deco finish. Recycled materials are woven throughout the cabin, with rugged all-weather mats in the front, second row, and rear cargo area.
Technology features include a 12.3-inch driver cluster with customizable menu options and a 14.5-inch horizontal touchscreen centre display—the largest singular usable digital screen space ever offered in a Jeep vehicle. Powered by Uconnect 5, the interface delivers clarity, brightness, and customization with digital buttons sized for ease of use in any terrain. The Jeep-exclusive Trails Offroad app offers a guide to trails and off-road routes.
